LG KP500 Touch Screen Phone

LG announce the touch screen phone KP500 on the market today which very keen on this type of phone. The main purpose behind the LG KP500 is the price - it is a bit cheaper than many other touch screen phones €229 (around £180).

LG KP 500 phone

It has impressive specifications with 3-inch 240 x 400 pixels like the LG Renoir, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory, a multimedia player and FM radio are the main ones.

However, to keep the price down the LG KP500 is not 3G, WiFi or GPS and the camera is not as good as the 5-megapixel and 8 megapixel units.

LG KP500 touchscreen phone

At only 89 grams in weight and 107×55x 12mm size, the LG KP500 is compact enough for a touch screen. LG KP500 say that should be available by the end of October in Europe in black, brown, gold and silver color combinations.

LG Renoir KC910 Touch Screen Phone

LG announced today a little more details about the Renoir which is on early mention it called LG KC910, but there is very little to add to the already mentioned technical specifications.

LG-renoir-kc910

Renoir KC910 is a touchscreen phone with 3 inch 240 x 400 pixels widescreen display, an 8 megapixel camera, 3.5G wireless and GPS, more support. The unit has dual LED flash and auto, and can use the LG Renoir GPS receiver automatically geotag photos. The LG Renoir impressive images and video capture capabilities, and comprehensive support of media playback, including an FM radio and several video codecs pre installed.

LG-renoir-kc910-phone

The LG Renoir weighs 110 grams, which is quite good given the impressive feature. Measurements are 108 x 56 x 14mm, which is larger than a standard phone but still quite nice pocket. The 1000 mAh battery can provide up to 3.5 hours talktime or 14 days standby on 3G.

LG-renoir-kc910-slim-phone

The Renoir LG should be available in Europe during October, followed by Asia, Latin America and CIS countries in November, then Africa and the Middle East in December followed by China in January 2009. The standard color is “Black Titan”, although we hope that other colors are also available.

This is not a cheap phone - one source of LG recommended price of SIM without retail price of about € 485 or £ 390. We expect the real world at prices cheaper than that, and of course if you take the LG Renoir with a new contract then you should get a discount very important indeed.

Open It! Packaging Removal Shears Review

As a product reviewer, I’m always having a hard time dealing with the way smaller products are packaged. The main proponent of my exacerbation is usually that super sealed plastic that most gadgets are contained with in, like memory cards and such. Jamming a knife into the plastic is my normal course of action because the scissors I have are always a weak combatant. The outcome just totally mangles the packaging and makes me look like a Geico Caveman if I ever have to return it.

Enter Open It!, the apex of all package opening shears. Having grips made of a rubberized plastic, they allow you to grab them up close so you get a good leverage point against the plastic. Open It! is designed to shred hard plastic, clamshells, blisters, cardboard, twist ties, and more. They literally tear through plastic like Triple H would a phone book. At the base of each handle there are some other useful tools for package removal, including a box cutter blade and an interchangeable Phillips and flat head screwdriver. The shears also have a locking lever to keep the main blades closed, but it’d be a good idea to keep away from kid’s as the safety button on the box cutter is useless. It’s made for opening packages, not kids!

It wouldn’t occur to most people that a product like this even exists, making this item a stellar gift idea! Low cost and high usage make it great for giving and there are three colors to choose from. The one I got is a nasty bright orange model that would be easy to spot from across the room, especially if it got into the wrong hands. Beyond my use for it, I would highly suggest it to any family that buys their children a lot of toys. All that Hannah Montana doll crap that has an endless gauntlet of twist ties and packaging that usually takes 15 minutes or so to unpack. Open It! could easily alleviate some holiday tension arising from convoluted packaging.  Happy cutting!

Buy it here!
